Hard battles on Sunday, August 8th, and Joao Paulo took the crown at Quiksilver King of the Groms Series, held in 3 to 4 foot waves at Brava Beach, Itajai, Santa Catarina, Brazil.

Joao had the lead for the entire Final heat, and his opponent Deivid Silva, didn't find the rhythm he had on semi final 2, when he scored a 9,17 wave with 2 huge moves, and 16 points total (highest single and combined score of event). Joao started with a 5,50 points, and then scored an 8,17 on the fourth wave that gave him a good lead.

 

"I'm very happy to win a spot for the Finals in France. Thanks God, my family, friends and sponsor",said the crowned champ Joao Paulo.

Other standouts were Luan Wood and Victor Bernardo, reaching semifinals, and Lucas Silveira losing a close and contested quarter final heat against the Champ. All these 3 boys are under 14 and showed great surfing at Brava Beach.
