Con catorce años, Jobe Harris, de Bude, ha sido coronado en el Quiksilver King of the Groms del Reino Unido. Jobe destacó en el concurso con una actuación sólida y consistente que le ha hecho ganar un puesto en la final europea de Zarautz que se celebrará el próximo 30 y 31 de julio.

Campeonato enfocado a potenciar a los màs jovenes y fomentar la cantera del surf.

La organizacion del evento decidio celebrar todas las categorias y finales el Sabado ya que el numero de inscritos daba esa posibilidad.

Las categorias de competidores se disturbio en las siguientes categorias:

·      Groms: menores de 16 anos

·      Chicas

Antes de editar su primer disco, We Are Standard ya habían ganado varios premios por la calidad de sus maquetas y habían despertado el interés de sellos y medios. Con él dieron un pequeño paso discográfico, pero lo que afianzaron con claridad era su directo, con más de 150 conciertos con un disco de debut y viajes a Europa para actuar en algunos festivales, además de editar el disco en Francia o USA. En España reciben el premio Ojo crítico de Radio Nacional de España a la mejor banda del 2006.

Medina puntuó lo máximo posible, 20 puntos, combinando un surf muy dinámico y demostrando su talento.

 

Las dos puntuaciones perfectas fueron dadas por los jueces, los cuales reconocieron la increíble técnica de Medina. Pocos surfers hoy en día pueden realizar tales repertorios de maniobras aéreas, además teniendo en cuenta el ambiente competitivo que hay manga tras manga y la presión que eso supone.
