At the end of the 1980s he was the first artist to Âintroduce a Âcharacter Mr. A, (his signature stick figure with a top hat) instead of the usual tag name. Mr. A soon became a cult Parisian Âsymbol in the creative world. As a result, the Âcharacter soon travelled from the city walls to high fashion magazines and into several fashion collaborations. Andre has painted Mr.A over 100,000 Âtimes around the world and consequentially both Mr A and ÂAndré have become Âinternational iconic figures.
One of Andrés most famous projects is entitled Love ÂGraffiti Âwhere he Âspray-paints the name of a lover in big bubble Âletters at a Âparticular location chosen by each client. This was a move away from the Âpreconceived idea that Âgraffiti art had to maintain a Âsingular tag or name. Each love Âgraffiti comes with a photograph and a Âcertificate to keep the trace of this ephemeral art work.
At the Tony Hawk Show, the public will have the exceptional Âopportunity to witness the notorious André at work as he transforms giant ramps into unique works of art.
